Job Purpose
The purpose of the P27 Shop Assistant & Cashier role is to deliver an exceptional customer shopping experience through effective merchandising, stock replenishment, housekeeping, and accurate processing of transactions at till points.
Employees are expected to work in a fast-paced retail environment, demonstrate high energy levels, and consistently live the Ackermans values and policies.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times
- Assist customers in locating products and merchandise
- Attend to customer queries and resolve complaints professionally
Cashier Duties
- Process cash and card payments accurately
- Handle lay-by transactions and customer refunds
- Balance tills and report discrepancies to supervisors
- Follow company cash-handling procedures
Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Ensure stock is correctly priced and attractively displayed
- Maintain product availability on the sales floor
- Keep the store clean, neat, and organised
- Stay informed about current promotions and offers
Risk & Stock Control
- Ensure products are tagged according to company policy
- Participate in stock takes
- Identify and report suspicious behaviour or fraudulent activity

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for Ackermans shop assistant cashier positions, applicants should meet the following:
- Grade 12 (Matric) preferred
- Strong customer service orientation
- Fluent in English (additional languages are advantageous)
- High energy levels and strong work ethic
- Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends
Previous retail experience is advantageous but not required.
