The Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme is a national initiative led by the Presidency to reduce youth unemployment in South Africa. Eskom is proud to participate in this programme by creating meaningful work opportunities for unemployed youth across the country.
Eskom is currently inviting young South Africans to apply for a 12-month fixed-term YES Programme opportunity within its Retail Department in the Distribution: Cape Coastal Cluster, Western Cape.
This opportunity offers valuable workplace exposure in the energy sector and serves as a strong stepping stone for youth seeking their first formal work experience.
Programme Location
Successful candidates may be placed in the following Western Cape areas:
- George (Garden Route)
- Worcester (Boland Sector)
- Grabouw, Somerset-West, Polkadraai (Helderberg Sector)
- Caledon (Overberg Sector)
- Khayelitsha
- Bellville and Kraaifontein (Tableview Sector)
- Malmesbury, Vredenburg, Vredendal (West Coast Sector)
Placement depends on operational requirements and availability.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Eskom YES Retail Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Aged between 18 and 34 years
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (post-matric certificates accepted)
- Not permanently employed for more than 12 consecutive months
- Not studying full-time during the year of employment
- Must not have previously participated in the YES Programme
- Willing to undergo Eskom’s recruitment and placement process
