This role reports to the Service Centre Supervisors / Service Manager (IT) and is suited to individuals who are customer-focused, technically inclined, and eager to develop IT support skills.

Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the IT Service Centre Intern role is to ensure the cost-effective management of IT incidents and service requests from initiation to resolution. Interns will provide first-line IT support while ensuring that service requests are logged, tracked, escalated, and resolved within agreed service levels.

The role supports the delivery of reliable IT services across the organisation and contributes to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for a range of IT support and service centre duties, including but not limited to:

Providing professional telephonic and email IT support to business users

Accurately recording, assigning, escalating, and tracking all IT incidents and service requests

Taking ownership of incidents and service requests from initiation through to closure

Delivering effective first-line technical support to restore IT services within agreed service levels

Engaging professionally with internal business users and external vendors

Ensuring that all IT incidents and service requests are resolved efficiently and effectively

Maintaining a high level of customer service at all times

Performing standby duties within the IT Service Centre when required

Being willing to work weekends, public holidays, and Sundays when operationally required

These responsibilities provide valuable exposure to IT service management processes and customer-focused support environments.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the IT Service Centre Internship, applicants must meet the following essential requirements:

Education and Experience

Matric / Grade 12 certificate

Information Systems (IS) or Information Technology (IT) Diploma

Job-Related Knowledge and Skills

Basic knowledge of information systems

Understanding of customer service and incident management processes

Awareness of company policies, procedures, and governance frameworks

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Analytical thinking and technical computer skills
